Kabupaten Lombok Tengah terletak pada posisi 82° 7' - 8° 30' Lintang Selatan dan 116° 10' - 116° 30' Bujur Timur, membujur mulai dari kaki Gunung Rinjani di sebelah Utara hingga ke pesisir pantai Kuta di sebelah Selatan dengan beberapa pulau kecil yang ada disekitarnya.

Topografi

Wilayah Lombok Tengah yang membujur dari utara ke selatan tersebut mempunyai letak dan ketinggian yang bervariasi mulai dari nol (0) hingga 2000 meter dari permukaan laut. Secara garis besar topografi masih mirip dengan kabupaten lain di pulau Lombok.

Curah hujan tersebut dapat dirincikan sebagai berikut:

Menurut data hasil sensus penduduk tahun 2000, jumlah penduduk Kabupaten Lombok Tengah sebanyak 745.433 jiwa (laki-laki 350.734 jiwa dan perempuan 394.699 jiwa) dengan Sex Ratio 89. Laju pertumbuhan sebesar 0.97%. Tingkat pertumbuhan merupakan kemajuan dari sebelumnya, yaitu 211% per tahun (periode 1970 - 1980)[rujukan?] dan 1,64% per tahun (periode 1980 - 1990).
